Biograde’s biodegradable resin formulation has successfully achieved compliance in accordance with the standard EN13432 conducted through the certified laboratories of Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne.
Biodegradable resins are plastics that can naturally decompose with the aid of microbial organisms. Biodegradable plastics break down cleanly, in a defined time period, to simple molecules found in the environment such as carbon dioxide and water.
The American Society for Testing & Material (ASTM) and the European Committee for Standardization (Comité Europeén de Normalisation or CEN) have published the technical standards – ASTM D6400-99 & EN13432 respectively - on what constitutes a Biodegradable Plastic. Only those plastics that meet these standards can be classified as Biodegradable.

Hybrid resins made with renewable resources are used where compostability is not required and where the use or renewable resources is desired.
